The Sittaford Mystery – Agatha Christie

What do you do for fun, in the days before the television and the Internet, when you’re stuck inside during a snowstorm? In The Sittaford Mystery, a group of people play with psychic table-turning, jokingly trying to receive messages from the spirit world. The fun stops when a shocking message announces that one of their friends has been murdered, a jaw-dropping announcement that proves true. The Book Club Review:
Overall everybody have enjoyed the book – nice and easy, but captivating read.
Members who have read other books by Agatha said this was not her best book, which made everyone else want to read other books even more!
Members who have never read Agatha Christie’s books before tended to enjoy the humour and the way the story unfolded. We appreciated how the characters were built and the timelessness of the book.
Despite of having to look up some of the more archaic words, we think some of the themes and human characteristics presented in the book are as valid now as they were in 1930s.
The book received 3.78 stars from the Maccclesfield HerSpace book club.
