The Measure – Nikki Erlick

It seems like just another morning.

Around the world, people wake up, check the news, open the front door.

On every doorstep is a box. Inside that box is the exact number of years that person has left to live.

Whether they open it or hide it under their bed, each person must learn to live in this new world: a couple who thought they didn’t have to rush their life together, a doctor who cannot save himself from his own fate, best friends whose dreams are forever entwined, and a politician whose box becomes the powder keg that ultimately changes everything…

  1. Paulina Cosby –

“The Measure” – a very thought provoking book about a world where everybody is able to know exactly how much longer they have to live.

Would you choose to know or would you prefer to stay in blissful ignorance? If you knew, how would you live your life?

Opinions about the book were very divided. Everybody appreciated the concept but some of us disliked characters which we struggled to connect with, some thought the book could have been taken in a better direction.

A few of us loved it though, praising how emotional the topic was and the we enjoyed characters’ heart-breaking stories.

We concluded that whatever happens, it’s best to live our lives to the full and… hope we squeeze in reading more books!!

Our book club has given this book 3.45 stars!
