If Women Rose Rooted

The inspiring eco-feminist memoir and manifesto that changes lives

‘If women remember that once upon a time we sang with the tongues of seals and flew with the wings of swans, that we forged our own paths through the dark forest while creating a community of its many inhabitants, then we will rise up rooted, like trees. And if we rise up rooted, like trees… well then, women might indeed save not only ourselves, but the world.’

Following a breakdown, Sharon Blackie left her corporate job and moved to the far north of Scotland in search of authenticity and belonging. Her quest for a connected life – working the land, listening for native wisdom and myth – will chime with any woman who has felt out of tune

With lyrical, visceral writing, this rallying cry for the re-wilding of womanhood has gathered followers and readers across the world.

    From the Book Club Meeting:
Definitely one of our most polarising books! A lot of our members really struggled with this book, it was difficult to read, there was nothing that gripped us and we felt the author had written about her own passion, without really bearing the reader in mind. On the other hand, there were a couple of members who may have struggled initially but found themselves really enjoying it by the end. We were also divided on the inclusion of the folk tales. Some of us found these to be the only interesting part of the book and others found them really off-putting.
Overall If Women Rose Rooted averaged 1.63*
