How do I become a member?

Click on the Join Us tab and sign up to a membership plan of your choice. Events are planned around our 5 main towns, however as a member you do get access to book events in any of our areas for just the £8 per month membership fee. Your monthly membership payment is made via recurring payment through your bank card (not standing order or direct debit). 

What is your age range?

We welcome anyone who is over the age of 18. This is on the basis that many of our events are in local bars and in some cases may involve the purchasing of alcohol. We are a really diverse group with members in their mid 20s though to their early 70s. Ladies join for different reasons; some are new to the area and want to explore it, some are looking for new hobbies, some are recently retired and looking for new things to do, others want to get out of the house more. But we all have the mutual aim of finding new friends, focusing on our wellbeing and creating a supportive community.

What does the membership fee cover?

The membership fee covers administration, booking fees and the management and organisation of all events. It covers the staff time of the HerSpace lead at the event, who is there to ensure a safe space and to foster a welcoming environment. It also allows you access to events at group-rate/discounted costs- these discounts often cover the cost of your membership! Having a membership ensures that people who are members are committed to making friends and attending events, making it easier to form friendships with people you regularly see. There won’t be a different random group of people attending each time- you will start to see familiar faces.

I am quite shy, how will I make friends?

All HerSpace members have the mutual aim of wanting to have fun and find new friends in their local area. This makes us a pretty welcoming bunch! There are plenty of opportunities to forge friendships; through face to face events, the book club, member meet-ups and the Community Outreach Team. As it is a membership service, you get the same faces attending the events, so it makes forming friendships much easier! Members can also see a list of names of those who are attending each event, and they can choose to upload their photo to their membership profile, which also helps with learning names!

When is membership payment made?

When creating your account you will set up the recurring payment via the bank card of your choice for the membership fee of just £8. Your first payment will come out of your account that day and then all subsequent payments will come out on a monthly basis on that same date. As soon as you sign up you can start booking tickets with availability.

How much will events cost and where will they be?

HerSpace events will cost anywhere up to £35 depending on whether it is a Yoga session or Cocktail making class but the majority will be around £5-10 and based in the town you have signed up to. Events are advertised in advance so you can see locations and prices under ‘the events’ tab.

What if I can no longer attend my event?

Should you find yourself unable to make an event, please complete the cancellation of event form on your membership dashboard. This will be sent to the event co-ordinator to process. Unfortunately event tickets are non-refundable when cancelled within 48 hours notice. However with enough notice we can advertise your ticket for another member, or at the Space Lead’s discretion, they may be able to offer e refund (less a £1 cancellation fee) should they have not paid any expenses yet. If we manage to pass on the ticket then you will receive a refund. Alternatively, if we haven’t yet paid the deposit for your place we will be able to refund it.

How many people can attend each event? What if the event is full?

Events will be advertised in advance and tickets will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Most events will have between 15-20 tickets allocated to them but this is listed on the event details. If an event you want to attend is full, then please email the event co-ordinator for that event and we can add your name to a waiting list. If there is enough interest, any particularly popular events will be replicated at a different date/time that month.

How do I cancel my membership? Is there a fee and how much notice do I need to give?

In the unlikely event that you would like to cancel, you need to complete the form via the ‘cancel my membership’ button on your member dashboard. This will be processed within 3 working days of receipt of email. In order to attend events you must have an active membership subscription.

Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?

Yes! We welcome anyone of any sexuality and who identifies as Female or is Non-Binary.

Do you offer car-sharing?

Whilst we cannot offer members lifts to events, as we often have to get to the venues early to prepare, members are encouraged to post in the private members group if they are able/need a lift to an event. We just ask that those who are being given a lift offer the member expenses for their petrol. For events which are further afield, event co-ordinators will add a car-sharing option to the ticket so that members can select this option on booking. They will then be in touch to arrange.

Can I recommend events or activities?

We would love to hear from you in regards to any local events or activities HerSpace could host! Please contact us to make any suggestions for future activities or to recommend local businesses who may like to be involved. You can also host your own ‘Member meet’ event! Just let us know what you would like to organise and we can add the ticket for the event to the website on your behalf.
