How do I become a member?

Click on the Join Us tab and sign up to a membership plan of your choice. Events are planned around our 2 main towns, however as a member you do get access to book events in any of our areas for just the £10 per month membership fee. Your monthly membership payment is made via recurring payment through your bank card (not standing order or direct debit). 

What is your age range?

HerSpace welcomes all women aged 18 and over. As many of our events take place in cafés, restaurants and local bars, and some may include the option to purchase alcohol, membership is open to adults only. One of the things our members love most about HerSpace is the diversity of our community. Our members range from women in their twenties to those in their seventies, bringing together a wonderful mix of experiences, backgrounds and perspectives. 

Women join HerSpace for all kinds of reasons. Some are new to the area and want to discover their local community. Others are looking to try new hobbies, embrace a new chapter after retirement, spend more time doing things they enjoy, or simply expand their social circle. Whatever brings you to HerSpace, you’ll find yourself surrounded by women who share the same goal: to build meaningful friendships, prioritise their wellbeing and be part of a warm, supportive community where everyone feels they belong.

What does the membership fee cover?

Your membership is about so much more than access to events – it’s an investment in a welcoming, thoughtfully curated community where genuine friendships can flourish. Your membership fee supports the behind-the-scenes organisation that makes every HerSpace experience feel effortless, from administration and booking systems to carefully planning and coordinating each event. It also covers the time of your dedicated HerSpace host, who is there to warmly welcome members, introduce people, facilitate conversation, and ensure every event remains a safe, inclusive and enjoyable space.

As a member, you’ll also enjoy exclusive access to events at preferential, group-rate prices. In many cases, these member discounts alone can easily exceed the cost of your monthly membership. Perhaps most importantly, membership creates consistency. Rather than attending events with a different group of strangers each time, you’ll become part of a familiar community of women who are equally committed to making meaningful friendships. The more events you attend, the more recognisable faces you’ll see, allowing connections to grow naturally over time and turning acquaintances into genuine friends.

I am quite shy, how will I make friends?

You’re not alone. Many of our members join HerSpace because they want to meet new people but don’t have someone to come with. Every member shares the same goal: to build genuine friendships and become part of a welcoming, supportive community. Our friendly HerSpace hosts are there to introduce members, encourage conversation and help everyone feel at ease.

Because HerSpace is a membership community, you’ll see familiar faces at events, making it much easier for friendships to grow naturally over time. Members can also view who is attending each event in advance and choose to add a profile photo, helping everyone put names to faces before they arrive.

When is membership payment made?

When creating your account you will set up the recurring payment via the bank card of your choice for the membership fee of just £10. Your first payment will come out of your account that day and then all subsequent payments will come out on a monthly basis on that same date. As soon as you sign up you can start booking tickets with availability.

What if I can no longer attend my event?

If you’re unable to attend an event, please complete the Event Cancellation Form available on your membership dashboard. Your request will be sent directly to the event host for processing.  As many of our events involve advance bookings, deposits or materials, cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are unfortunately non-refundable.

Where more than 48 hours’ notice is given, we’ll always do our best to help. We may be able to offer your place to another member, or, where no costs have yet been incurred, the Space Lead may authorise a refund. Approved refunds are subject to a £1 administration fee. If we’re able to fill your place or have not yet committed to any event costs on your behalf, we’ll arrange your refund as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding. Our cancellation policy helps us support our hosts, cover event costs fairly, and ensure the smooth running of our community events for everyone.

How many people can attend each event? What if the event is full?

Events will be advertised in advance and tickets will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Most events will have between 15-20 tickets allocated to them but this is listed on the event details. If an event you want to attend is full, then please email the event co-ordinator for that event and we can add your name to a waiting list. If there is enough interest, any particularly popular events will be replicated at a different date/time that month.

How do I cancel my membership? Is there a fee and how much notice do I need to give?

In the unlikely event that you would like to cancel, you need to complete the form via the ‘cancel my membership’ button on your member dashboard. This will be processed within 3 working days of receipt of email. In order to attend events you must have an active membership subscription.

Can I recommend events or activities?

We would love to hear from you in regards to any local events or activities HerSpace could host! Please contact us to make any suggestions for future activities or to recommend local businesses who may like to be involved. You can also host your own ‘Member meet’ event! Just let us know what you would like to organise and we can add the ticket for the event to the website on your behalf.
