Introduction to Psychology- Congleton.

August 27 @ 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Are you interested in psychology? Do you know of someone studying the A Level or thinking about doing so? Would it have been something you would have liked to have study but didn’t get the chance? Would you like to further your understanding of previous and current schools of Psychology?

As a previous teacher of Psychology for over a decade, join Charlotte for an informal and interesting evening where she will explore some of the major psychological theories of our time. We will delve into a variety of different topics, including:

  • The main theoretical viewpoints of human behaviour
  • Psychological theories of mental illness; from Freudian psychodynamic theories to current biological theories
  • Theories of attachment and the effects of negative experience in childhood on later development
  • Evolutionary theories of romantic relationship formation and mate selection in humans; do women look for wealth and men look for looks?
  • Theories of localisation of function; are certain behaviours located in specific regions of the brain?
  • Famous psychological experiments of the past and what they have shown us about human behaviour

There will be some fun interactive activities to get involved with and it will provide opportunities to discuss and debate some of the viewpoints put forward. Refreshments included in the ticket price.
